How to Price Your Products and Actually Make a Profit
Many small sellers stay busy and still end the month with nothing in their pocket. The cause is usually pricing. Here is a simple way to set prices that pay you.
Know your real cost
Your cost is not only what the product cost you. Add transport, packaging, phone data, any payment charges and the time you spend answering messages. If you do not count these, you may be selling at a loss without knowing.
Use a simple margin rule
Decide the profit you want on each item before you set the price. For example, if you want to keep a third of the selling price, the price must be at least one and a half times your cost. Do the calculation once per product and write it down.
Compare, but do not copy
Look at what similar shops charge so you stay realistic, but do not simply copy the lowest price. The cheapest shop wins customers who leave for the next cheaper one. Compete on trust, speed, packaging and service.
Avoid the discount trap
- Give a small gift or a faster delivery instead of a price cut.
- Offer a bundle: two items for a slightly better price than separate.
- Keep discounts for a clear reason, like a launch week or a repeat customer.
Show delivery clearly
Tell customers the delivery fee and time before they decide. Surprises at the end lose sales and trust.
Review every month
At the end of each month, list your three best-selling products and your three slowest. Raise the price of what sells easily, and drop or rethink what does not. Your prices are a decision you keep improving.
On MOZLYT prices are set in your own country's currency. If a fixed price is set for a product, you will see it in your dashboard.
